Lynch sisters lead Marple Newtown back in the win column

Megan and Julia Lynch made sure that Marple Newtown would leave Upper Darby as winners Wednesday.

The sisters excelled on offense and defense in the fourth quarter of the Tigers’ 42-35 triumph over the Royals.

Megan scored a game-high 14 points and was 8-for-10 from the foul line. Julia added five points for MN, which snapped a seven-game skid.

Emma Blewett had 14 points and four assists for Upper Darby.

Garnet Valley 56, Harriton 37 >> Emily McAteer led the way for Garnet Valley with 14 points.

Sydney Fail scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and made three steals for the Jaguars (16-2, 12-1), who pulled away from the visiting Rams

with an 11-1 run in the second quarter. Maddie Ireland added 13 points and Nicole Barnes recorded six points and four steals.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Conestoga 51, Penncrest 30 >> The host Lions fell behind 22-8 after one quarter and never recovered. Ellie Mack dominated with 13 of her 20 points in the period for the Pioneers, who shot 64 percent from the floor in the first half.

Megan Arndt and Grace Harding led the Lions with eight points apiece.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 52, Archbishop Ryan 39 >> Maura Hendrixson was on fire from 3-point distance. The sophomore drilled three of her four treys in the first quarter as the Lions (14-2) were in control from the start.

Kenzie Gardler, who was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe, added 12 points for O’Hara. All-Delco Mary Sheehan tossed in nine.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Penn Charter 43, Notre Dame 41 >> The Irish (13-4, 7-2) couldn’t quite catch up to the Quakers, who shot 7-for-9 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. Katie Mayock finished with 15 points and six rebounds in the loss. Kristen Rogers (seven rebounds) and Mandy McGurk chipped in eight points apiece.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Unionville 44, Sun Valley 27 >> Trailing by only three points at halftime, the Vanguards struggled for baskets in the final two quarters as they were outscored by the Indians, 25-12.

Kate Lannon powered the Vanguards (6-10) with 12 points.
