Pennsbury wrestling pins way to first SOL win of the season
FAIRLESS HILLS – Pennsbury won its first dual meet of the season against a Suburban One League (SOL) opponent Wednesday night (Jan. 6) when it got past Bensalem, 56-19. On a night when they were honoring their alumni, The Falcons rebounded from an early 13-3 deficit to pin in six of its last eight bouts.
Winning by fall for Pennsbury were sophomore Antonio Martoccio (120 pounds), sophomore Mark Hertkorn (126), senior Connor Joyce (132), sophomore Shaun Peel (145), senior Zack Clarke (152) and junior Connor Gowton (170).
Senior Spencer Hickman won by tech. fall over Dan Esenov, shutting the Bensalem wrestler out, 15-0, in 5:13. Jacob Dubs (106) and Nicholas Visco (113) won by forfeit and senior Evan Kortick (182) started the meet with a 7-3 decision win over Owls 182-pounder Davud Esenov.
Martoccio recently captured a 113-pound title belt in the Ralph Wetzel Holiday Classic at Hatboro Horsham when he registered a 4-3 decision win over Downingtown East’s James Strommer. Joyce grabbed a runner-up ribbon in the tournament and Clarke took a third-place medal.
As a team, the Falcons finished sixth in a field of 29 teams.

Council Rock South cruises to second SOL win
NORTHAMPTON – Council Rock South easily got past Abington for its second league win of the season Wednesday night (Jan. 6) on its home court.
The Golden Hawks pinned in six of their bouts and won by tech-fall in two others on their way to a 71-5 victory
