Springfield’s Cardi, Galligan winners at Lehigh
Springfield’s Joe Cardi and Liam Galligan both earned gold medals in the Division II portion of the weekly Track & Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia meet at Lehigh University Saturday.
Cardi won the mile in 4 minutes, 38.97 seconds, while Galligan led a 1-2-3-5 Delco finish in the 3,000-meter run. Galligan won in 8:56.14. Strath Haven’s Ian Reid was second followed by Anthony Harper of Bonner-Prendergast. Nick Magnani of The Haverford School placed fifth.
In addition to Cardi and Galligan, Matthew Paynter of Springfield was fourth in the triple jump. The Haverford School picked up three relay medals. The Fords were second in both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays, and fourth in the DMR.
Keon Rantin highlighted a good day for Glen Mills with a victory in the 400. Jhaunell Burnside was fifth in the 200. Inerji Sirleaf took fifth in the 800. Michael Barnes placed fourth in the 60 hurdles. Jhaquil Aguilar finished second in the long jump. Semaj Robinson was third in the shot put and Dvale Mudd took sixth in the triple jump. The Bulls were also third in the 4 x 200-meter relay.
Cardinal O’Hara won the 4 x 200 and distance medley relay, and received a fourth-place finish in the pole vault by Dustin Sacchetti.
Bonner-Prendergast had a couple of winners. Ethan Cooke claimed gold in the triple jump, while the Friars were first in the 4 x 400.
Strath Haven also had a good day. In addition to Reid, Ahmir Gordon was second in the 400. Jules Lee was second in the triple jump and the Panthers took third in the 4 x 400.
Brion McNear of Chichester earned a fifth-place medal in the 200, while teammate Chichester Raymond Argo was fourth in the 400. Interboro had a pair of medal winners. Matt Boyce was second in the 60 hurdles and Billy Hallinan was fifth in the mile. Sam Pisano of Penncrest took sixth in the 60 hurdles, while teammates David Clark III and Christian Williams were fifth in the triple and long jumps, respectively. The Lions also were fifth in the DMR. David Fohner of Archbishop Carroll was sixth in the long jump.
In Division I:
Upper Darby’s Mason Weh and Marquis Gibbs were the only individual winners from Delco. Weh won the 60 hurdles, while Gibb took first in the triple jump. Both qualified for the state championship meet. Teammate Jordan Pelzer took fifth in the high jump for Upper Darby, while the Royals also won the 4 x 400 and were third in the 4 x 200.
Penn Wood’s Ndiaga Seck was third in the 800 (MOC qualifying 2:03.41) and the Patriots were fourth in the 4 x 400.
Justin Moscoe of Haverford was fifth in the 200. Chester’s Sha’bre Barnett took fifth in the 400 with a Meet of Champions qualifying time of 53.46 seconds.
