Mongeluzi’s effort gives Notre Dame Inter-Ac title
Usually, a 17th-place finish in a cross country meet, even a championship race, barely receives notice. There are exceptions, though, like Erin Mongeluzi’s performance Monday in the Inter-Ac League championships at Belmont Plateau.
Mongeluzi’s 17th place finish gave Notre Dame its first team title since 2011 with a 47-48 victory Germantown Academy. Mikayla Schneider and Sydney Stribrny placed fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Irish. Katie Lennon with eighth and Madison Gaffney 11th.
Sanalya Watts of Agnes Irwin was third overall to lead the Owls to a third-place finish. Teammate Jessica Crowley placed ninth. Freshman Caitlin Jorgensen was fourth to lead Episcopal Academy to fourth-place. Ariana Feliziani placed 10th for the Churchwomen.
