Conestoga makes its mark at Adidas XC Challenge
Conestoga made its mark at the highly-competitive Adidas XC Challenge at North Carolina State Sept. 19.
The Conestoga girls, who are ranked eighth in the PennTrackXC preseason state poll, finished 13th of 35 teams in the Championship race division, which featured many of the country’s best distance runners.
Conestoga was led by sophomore co-captain Dominique Shultz, who finished 33rd of 287 runners with a new personal best time of 19:17. Next was senior co-captain Johanna Nasman (19:31), senior Celeste Leon (20:48), junior Mary Kate Boccella (20:49), sophomore Kate Concannon (20:53), junior Rose Duffy (20:57), senior co-captain Lila Holmes (21:04), freshman Emily DeSantis (21:06) and junior Courtney Sellig (21:11).
Finishing 10th of 33 teams the Conestoga boys were paced by senior co-captain PJ Murray, who placed ninth of 299 runners in the invitational division in 16:28. Other top Conestoga finishers were senior co-captain Theo Roberts (17:16), sophomore Jake Robinson (17:51), senior Josh Stead (17:58) and senior Tim McCarthy (18:23).
