The Reporter Week 3 Preview Capsules

Here is a look at the five games on The Reporter’s local high school football schedule for Week Three.

North Penn at Downingtown East
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Downingtown West High School.

Records: North Penn is 1-1 overall and 0-0 in the Suburban One League National Conference. Downingtown East is 2-0 overall and 0-0 in the Ches-Mont National Division.
Last Week: The Knights won 40-24 over West Catholic at Widener University. The Cougars beat Roman Catholic, 35-21, down at the South Philly Super Site.
Players to Watch: Knights quarterback Reece Udinski completed 18 of 24 passes for 254 yards last week in a 40-point effort by the offense. The Cougars have a workhorse back in Jack Kincade, who had 24 carries last week for 101 yards.
Prediction: North Penn 28, Downingtown East 14.

Central Bucks West at Pennridge
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Helman Field.

Records: Central Bucks West is 0-2 overall and 0-0 in the SOL Continental. Pennridge is 1-1 overall and 0-0 in the SOL National.
Last Week: The Bucks fell in a close one to Souderton Area, 21-14. The Rams fell in overtime, 16-10, to Central Bucks East.
Last Year: The Rams went on the road and earned a 35-23 win over the Bucks.
Players to Watch: Bucks fullback Jake Reichwein had a breakout game last week, scoring twice for the Bucks, including a 58-yard run. Quarterback DeVon Balmer and wide receiver Ryan Cuthbert have been a key connection for the Rams.
Prediction: Pennridge 21, Central Bucks West 14

Wissahickon at Souderton
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Souderton Area High School.

Records: Wissahickon is 1-1 overall and 0-0 in the SOL American. Souderton Area is 1-1 overall and 0-0 in the SOL National.
Last Week: The Trojans lost 38-13 to Norristown. Big Red pulled out a 21-14 victory over Central Bucks West.
Last Year: Souderton went on the road and won 20-14 over the Trojans.
Players to Watch: Quarterback Mike Marino had the Trojans’ offense moving in spurts last week and will look to guide a more consistent attack. Jamar White had a big game last week for Big Red, in the running game and in the defensive secondary.
Prediction: Souderton 31, Wissahickon 20

Lansdale Catholic at Hatboro-Horsham
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Hatboro-Horsham High School
On the Air: The game will be broadcast live on the radio on 1440 AM and live on the internet at www.wnpv1440.com.

Records: Lansdale Catholic is 2-0 overall and 0-0 in the Philadelphia Catholic League. Hatboro-Horsham is 0-2 overall and 0-0 in the SOL American.
Last Week: The Crusaders remained unbeaten with a 49-7 win over Springfield Montco. The Hatters lost 38-19 to Quakertown.
Last Year: Hatboro won 28-13 over LC in Week Three.
Players to Watch: Marlen Fenstermacher and Ryan Quigley were a tremendous duo for LC last week, both as runners and receivers. Hatboro’s Calvin Broaddus was a scoring machine last week, with three TD’s.
Prediction: Lansdale Catholic 32, Hatboro-Horsham 23

Phoenixville at Methacton
Time/Place: Friday, 7 p.m., at Phoenixville High School
Records: Phoenixville is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. Methacton is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the PAC 10.
Last Week: The Phantoms were on the wrong end of a 58-7 rout, at home against Spring-Ford. The Warriors were blanked, 60-0, at Perkiomen Valley.
Last Year: The Warriors took this one last year, winning 44-6.
Players to Watch: Quarterback Matt Palubinsky will try to connect with Nasir Green in the passing game to give the Phantoms a boost. Jason Eckman and Zack Skalecki look to provide a strong QB-RB tandem for the Warriors.
Prediction: Methacton 23, Phoenixville 17
