Boys Soccer: Five players to watch
Jerry Karalis, Haverford School: Take your pick on this Fords team. But while all kinds of attention are lavished on the Bradleys and Connor Gregory, don’t forget that Karalis scored six goals last year and had a hand in many more as a potent creative force on that team.
Josh Mason, Strath Haven: The Panthers are looking for goal-scorers, and Mason showed flashes of promise that he could be one last year. Just a sophomore, Mason has the speed to give opposing defenses fits.
Cole Mays, Haverford: The intrigue of Haverford is that for all the players they have back in a deep senior class, they must replace their top two scorers from last year. Enter Mays, who scored six times a season ago and will be called on as a major offensive protagonist.
Liam Thomas, Penncrest: Thomas is hardly an unknown quantity, earning All-Central goalkeeping honors last year. But with the massive rebuild under way in front of him from last year’s program-record side, there may be no player relied on as heavily in the Central League.
John Mansaray, Penn Wood: Rather quietly, Mansaray tucked away 21 goals last season. That kind of production is a byproduct of the Patriots’ schedule to a degree, but let’s see if the forward can be a catalyst in what appears to be a pitched battle with Interboro this season.
