TCA one better than AP in slugfest

The Christian Academy unloaded the bat rack Wednesday — and the Crusaders needed plenty of hacks to hold off Academy Park, 16-15, in a nonleague softball game in which the pitchers all but took the afternoon off.

Carli Sitkowski came up huge at the plate for TCA (12-4), going 4-for-5 and driving in four runs with three doubles and a solo home run.

Madi Dutton picked up five RBIs with three singles, winning pitcher Carly Ryle belted a two-run homer and Julia Lee added a bases-empty blast for the Crusaders, who saw eight of their 18 hits go for extra bases.

The slugfest featured 31 hits and 10 errors, with Abby Williams and Bethany Carls each poking a double for Academy Park.
