Singles strength paces Academy Park past Cardinal O’Hara
Duwaine Jenkins and Dayquan Harrison pushed Academy Park out to a great start in the team’s 3-2 nonleague victory over Cardinal O’Hara.
Jenkins and Harrison won their singles matches in straight set. Andrew Shuda salvaged the No. 3 match for the Lions with a 6-0, 6-2 decision.
Evan Gadson and Dylan Latini were successful at first doubles for the Knights.
In the Del Val League:
Glen Mills 4, Penn Wood 1: After Corrie Johnson won the top singles match for the Patriots, the Battlin’ Bulls reeled off four in a row highlighted by Kevin Portalatin well-earned 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) decision at the second match.
In the Central League:
Marple Newtown 7, Ridley 0: John Gabrielle, Tom Hall and Andy Wang triumphed for the Tigers in singles competition.
Conestoga 7, Garnet Valley 0: GV’s doubles team of Kemper Young and Kevin Lu lost 7-5, 1-6, 1-6 while the Pioneers won all other matches in straight sets.
