Academy Park continued its perfect season Thursday with a 5-0 victory over visiting Glen Mills in Del Val League action.
Defending league singles champ Duwayne Jenkins, Daquan Harrison and Jamal Sumpter all prevailed in singles, Sumpter needing three sets to best Dylan Flegel.
Doubles teams Rodney Gilliard and Evan Gadsen and Kevin Tran and Nazir Clark-Crooms also triumphed. First doubles is the only unit to drop a match at this early stage of the season for the Knights (4-0, 3-0), who on Monday will battle Chichester, also undefeated in the league.
Chichester 5, Chester 0 — Chichester pitched another shutout to position itself for the showdown with Academy Park. Adrian Reimers, John Reimers and Jack Lee triumphed in singles. The doubles team of Kevin Leondard and Andrew Ung also rolled.
In Central League action:
Springfield rode Mike Bonaquish’s win at second singles to a 4-3 decision over Upper Darby.
Bonaquish beat Matt Canavati, 6-4, 4-6 (10-6) in the most competitive match, the second set ending with a tiebreaker as a compromise due to the cold weather.
Conestoga 5, Strath Haven 0 — Two of the Panthers singles losses were attributed to suspended matches due to unplayable court surfaces. The Panthers fell to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in the league.
