North Penn’s Boland Bintner, Upper Moreland’s Wilcox win District 1 titles
TOWAMENCIN — Capping his performance with a thrilling triple twisting flip, North Penn’s Ian Boland Bintner not only advanced to states but captured his first District One Class AAA diving title with an impressive showing Friday night at the Rick Carroll Natatorium.
Boland Bintner had an overwhelming final round to pull away from Central Bucks South’s Nash Nickerson, winning the competition with a final score of 510.95.
“I wasn’t really expecting to win. I knew I had a good chance to makes states,’ said Boland Bintner, after posing for pictures with he and his fellow state-bound teammates. “I knew (Nash) was really good.’
The Knight sophomore had a slim lead over Nickerson going into the final round — 351.65 to 351.05 — but then broke it open. Boland Bintner’s gold-medal effort was part of a tremendous overall performance by North Penn.
