Haigh takes 200 free at Inter-Ac meet in record time
Records keep falling around Matt Haigh. The Haverford School junior set a Malvern Prep pool record en route to victory in the 200 freestyle Wednesday, then finished second in the 500 free at the Inter-Ac Championships. Haigh’s time in the 200 free was a blistering 1:41.55.
Alex Boratto set a pool record in the 100 backstroke at 50.49 seconds after finishing second in the 100 free. Ben Nelligan was second in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 50 free, Charlie Ryan took third in the 100 fly and fourth in the 200 IM, and Luke Ryan (100 back) and David Mitchell (200 free) also added third-place finishes for Haverford School.
The team of Mitchell, Boratto, Haigh and Charlie Ryan won the 400 free relay in a pool record 3:11.54, while the medley relay of Boratto, Harrison White, Nelligan, Mitchell won in 1:37.59.
Episcopal Academy’s Waylon Jin won the 100 fly in 51.99 seconds before finishing second in the 100 breast. Ben Baturka was second in the 100 back and third in the 100 free, and Ivan Puskovitch finished third in the 500 free. Sam Hawke was fifth in the 50 and sixth in the 100 fly for EA.
