Rodriguez helps Ridley edge Springfield in overtime
Ridley’s Jalessa Rodriguez had a career game and teammates Hailee Mayer and Mel Malseed came through in the clutch in overtime against Springfield Wednesday night.
Mayer hit the go-ahead layup with roughly 30 seconds to play, lifting the Green Raiders to a thrilling 49-48 victory over the Cougars.
Prior to fouling out in the fourth quarter, Rodriguez poured in a game-high 20 points for Ridley (7-10, 3-9).
Mel Malseed had just seven points, but she made a big impact throughout the game. The birthday girl delivered a key 3-point field goal in overtime.
Madison D’Ambrosio registered her fifth consecutive double-double in the losing cause, finishing with team highs in points (17) and rebounds (14). Sam Tamaccio added 10 points for Springfield.
