Mathis gets it started in win for Interboro
Shane Mathis opened with a pin at 120, Mike Wasch (132) and Danny Mea (195) also won by fall and Tahj Sanders pulled out a 14-11 decision at 170 to help visiting Interboro slip past Glen Mills, 39-35, Wednesday in Del Val League wrestling.
Glen Mills’ 152-pounder Daniel Lopez took down Jason Miksit in 2 minutes, 35 seconds in what was considered the feature matchup. Devon Herman (160), Rashann Frazier (182) and Nygel Jenkins (220) also pinned out for the Battlin’ Bulls.
Chichester 54, Penn Wood 14: Manny Mitchell outlasted Kelvin Awo, 6-5, in four overtimes to provide the highlight of the night for the visiting Eagles.
Eddie Sykes (152), Dan Sullivan (182) and Isaiah Bobo (220) came through with pins for Chichester. Dan Allen (170) had a technical fall for Penn Wood, which dug itself a hole by forfeiting the first four weights.
In the Central League:
Garnet Valley 66, Lower Merion 12: Dave Wood needed just 42 seconds to flatten his opponent at 120, Paul Gartman pulled off a second-period pin at 160 and Matt Marino (126) and Pat Rowe (152) added decisions for the Jaguars, who got very little work in on the mat due to the Aces’ eight forfeits.
Haverford High 62, Harriton 13: The Fords actually trailed 9-0 before a dominant string that included three forfeits, pins by Pete Moore (120), Noah Strehse (132) and Andrew Lee (138) and a technical fall from Will Newmiller (126) put the match out of reach.
Upper Darby 71, Marple Newtown 0: Chris Johnson recorded a pin at 138 in 22 seconds, Jake Mejias was a few seconds behind, needing :28 to take down his opponent at 113, and Thomas Reis (106), Jim Hopkins (120), Carl Cananousa (152), Pat Kane (160) and Josh Yeboah (220) also registered first-period falls for the 14-4 Royals.
