Awo stars as Penn Wood takes second place
Penn Wood’s Kelvin Awo went 3-0 at 145 pounds, earning most outstanding wrestler honors at the Delco Christian Invitational and helping Penn Wood finish second.
Francis Knuckles (112 pounds), Ryan Jackson (126), Abraham Charles (138) and Nazir Withers (160) all won their weight classes. All three were undefeated, with Charles (at 4-0) the only one wrestling more than three matches.
Nagi Yahya was second at 132 pounds, and Sean Spence (152), Dan Dumas (195) and Mohammed Kanneh (220) finished third for the Patriots, whose total of 170 points was second only to Penn Charter.
At the Redskin Duals:
Chichester went 3-2 on the day, hanging losses on Pine Grove (45-25), Northeast (65-6) and Archbishop Ryan (46-23) at the event hosted by Neshaminy.
Isaiah Bobo went 5-0 at 220 pounds, including four pins. Craig Baldwin (120) and Joe Trefz (160) also went 5-0 on the day. Eddie Sykes (152) and Dan Sullivan (182) each went 4-1 for Chichester (16-4).
In the Central League:
Haverford 50, Ridley 21: Vince Tavani’s pin at 106 pounds set off a streak of 10 straight wins as the Fords pulled away.
Pete Moore (120), Noah Strehse (132), Ben Simonson (138) and Matt Bloxton (170) also added pins to Haverford’s effort.
Three of Ridley’s four wins came via pins thanks to heavyweight Leo Teti-Cassidy, 182-pounder Nate Brennan and 195-pounder Lawrence Alkins.
