Boys Basketball: Garnet Valley sets program record in high-scoring affair
Garnet Valley made history Monday, one bucket at a time.
Led by 20 points from Carl Tienabeso, the Jaguars put six players into double-figures en route to a school scoring record and a 99-51 win over Franklin Towne Charter.
Griffin Morandini supplied a career-high 16 points to go with seven rebounds, Andrew Louden added 14 points and Austin Laughlin chipped in 12 for the Jaguars (7-8). Jack Diggory and Zach Conner also checked in with 10 points apiece for Garnet Valley.
In other nonleague action:
Upper Darby 66, Dieruff 59: Quadir Turner scored a team-high 19 points, including 10-for-12 from the free throw line as the Royals pulled away in a game that was tied after three quarters.
Elliot Bruce poured in a season-high 18 points, and Kahleel Henry added 16 for the Royals (9-7).
Brandywine 63, Strath Haven 60: Kyree Fuller hit four 3-pointers as part of his 18 points, but the Panthers couldn’t pull out a win in double-overtime.
Nick Fender, who scored six points, made a steal and scored the game-tying basket late in regulation to get the Panthers to the extra sessions, but they never led in the second overtime.
Josh Singleton scored 12 points for Strath Haven.
In the Catholic League:
Archbishop Carroll 59, St. Joseph’s Prep 54: Derrick Jones approached a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds as the host Patriots doubled up the Hawklets, 34-17, over the middle two quarters.
Josh Sharkey dished seven assists to go with his 13 points, and Ryan Daly and Dave Beatty contributed 11 points apiece for the Patriots (11-4, 5-1).
Cardinal O’Hara 50, Lansdale Catholic 35: Alvin Eburuoh scored a season-high 10 points, and Ahmad Williams chipped in 10 as the Lions snapped a seven-game losing streak.
Liutauras Repsys and Doma Tiska chipped in eight points apiece for the Lions (6-10, 1-6).
