Barlow takes title as Haverford School finishes second
The Haverford School wrestling team keeps rolling along.
The Fords finished second in the 22-team Battle of the Beach Tournament at Indian River High School in Dagsboro, Del. Tuesday.
L.J. Barlow, the reigning Daily Times Wrestler of the Year, pinned all of his opponents in the first period to win the 195-pound title. Freddy Corradetti won the 132-pound crown. Other place-winners for the Fords were Mickey Kober (second at 220), Chase McCollum (third at 120), Richie Souders (third at 182), Chauncey Simmons (third at 285), Jack Gola (fourth at 138), Chris Kober (fifth at 170), Jake Hervada (sixth at 160) and Michael Clymer (eighth at 113).
Matt Marino claimed the 126-pound title to lead Garnet Valley to seventh place at the Manheim Holiday Tournament. Marino won his semifinal match by technical fall and beat Seth Koleno of Bald Eagle Area in the final, 9-3. Pat Rowe (152) took third for the Jags. Nick Puliti (132), Gary Pizzuto (145), Ryan Mortimer and Mark Peters (182) all placed fourth.
