Daniel Boone drops three of four games
With the tip-off tournaments out of the way, it’s time to get into the meat of the winter sports schedule. The Daniel Boone High School boys basketball team fell to 0-1 in the Berks League and 1-5 overall after losing three of four games last week.
The Blazers opened the week with a 53-49 victory over Southwestern Maryland. The game was close throughout, but Boone outscored their guests in the fourth quarter, 18-10, to pull out the victory. Jake Kuhn led the Daniel Boone offense with 14 points in the game. Ian Rathgeb and Tyler Dorang each had 10 points, while Michael Dabney and Ryan Okuniewski each had five.
On Dec. 11, the Blazers traveled to Pottsgrove for a a non-league game. A bad start hurt the Blazers as Pottsgrove won the game, 82-52. The Falcons jumped out to a 29-11 lead and never looked back.
Okuniewski led the Daniel Boone offense with 14 points, while Ryan Zamicelli scored 11 and Kuhn had nine. Dorang chipped in with eight points.
On Dec. 12, the Blazers traveled to Twin Valley and came home with a 51-32 loss. The Raiders took a 12-7 lead into the second quarter, then expanded their lead to 18 by hafltime, 32-14.
Dorang scored 13 points to lead the the way for Daniel Boone, while Kuhn scored six and Rathgeb had five.
The Blazers played host to Boyertown on Dec. 13. The Bears came away with a 57-34 victory. Boyertown jumped a 15-6 lead after one quarter, and led at halftime, 29-15. The Bears pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Boone, 15-6.
Kuhn was high scorer for Boone with 14 points in the game. Ryan Zamicelli chipped in with six points.
The Blazers opened the Berks League season with a game in West Lawn to take on the Wilson Bulldogs. Wilson handed the Blazers a 58-26 loss. Daniel Boone stayed with the Bulldogs until the fourth quarter whenm Wilson outscored Boone, 26-3.
Okuniewski had nine points for the Blazers and Rathgeb added five.
