Cutrufello reaches 100-win mark for EA

A.J. Cutrufello celebrated his 100th career victory Wednesday, as the Episcopal Academy senior captain picked up a pin and a forfeit when the Churchmen slammed Solebury School, 78-0, and fell to Phelps School, 45-36.

Freshman 160-pounder Hank Aldridge posted a pair of first-period pins, including a 27-second fall that fueled a late run by the Churchmen (5-3) in the loss.

Glen Mills 57, Oxford 18: Sequorri Smith needed just 46 seconds to flatten his opponent at 195 pounds and Willie Hardy pinned in one minute at 170 to allow the Bulls to even their record at 1-1.

In the Central League:

Noah Frantz pulled off a 40-second pin at 126 pounds in the final bout, halting a late run by Springfield and sealing Strath Haven’s 35-25 road win.

Sasha Reiger opened the match with a 7-4 decision at 132, fellow freshman Brett Burns followed with a 12-2 win at 138, and Devon Moore (4:59 at 145) and David Moore (0:52 at 152) extended the Panthers’ fast start with consecutive pins.

Garnet Valley 61, Radnor 9: The Raiders jumped on top in the opening bout thanks to Tom Meyers’ 5-0 decision at 182, but the Jaguars responded with a dominant effort as Kevin Christie (113), Dave Wood (120), Matt Mortimer (138), Gary Pizzuto (145) and Pat Rowe (152) delivered pins and Ryan Mortimer (160) added a major decision.

Upper Darby 51, Ridley 18: James Hopkins got the Royals off to a strong start with a first-period fall at 120 and Colin Cronin (132), Christopher Johnson (138) and Patrick Kane (160) each need less than a minute to win, as Upper Darby finished with seven pins. The Green Raiders’ highlights were provided by Mike Cowan, who pulled out an 8-6 win at 126, and pins by Cade Heverly (170) and Lawrence Alkins (195).
