Haseltine’s rocket sends TCA to semifinals
With the ball on her feet, six seconds left and approximately 35 yards from the goal line, all freshman Lindsay Haseltine could do Tuesday afternoon was let it fly.
Her shot found its mark, the upper left corner of the net to be precise, to send The Christian Academy into the Tri-State Christian Conference semifinals with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over visiting Atlantic Christian.
The Crusaders (10-5-1) rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the second half to set up a semifinal meeting Thursday with Cumberland Christian for the third year in a row. Cumberland has won the last two playoff meetings.
Trailing, 1-0, Carli Sitkowski won a ball off a goal kick, played it over the defense where Gracie Cryan touched it home 10 minutes into the second half. Haseltime moved from sweeper to midfield in the second half and put home the winner with time winding down.
Goalie Madison Dutton made four saves for TCA.
