Sitkowski’s rocket helps TCA cruise to victory
Carli Sitkowski hit the first of her two goals from her “sweet spot,’ a 25-yard rocket from beyond the 18-yard box that found the roof of the net and highlighted The Christian Academy’s 3-0 shutout win against Gloucester Christian in Tri-State Christian Athletic Conference girls soccer action Tuesday.
Sitkowski assisted on Gracie Cryan’s corner-kick header for the Crusaders (9-5-1, 8-4-1), while goalie Madison Dutton had five saves. Freshman Lindsay Haseltine chipped in with stingy defensive play on the back line for TCA in the win, with which the Crusaders clinched home-field advantage for a Tri-State playoff game next Tuesday.
Springside Chestnut Hill 11, Notre Dame 5: The tandem of Megan McCool and Emily McNesby overpowered Notre Dame, as the pair combined for nine goals in an 11-5 rout of the Irish.
Phoebe McClernon had a hat trick for Notre Dame (5-8-1, 1-6), while Ariah Fish scored twice in a losing effort. Katie McCullough and Lucy Van Kula teamed up for four saves in goal.
