Borcky powers O’Hara past Bonner-Prendie
Charlee Borcky led Cardinal O’Hara with 16 kills, while Meghan MacWilliams dished out 52 assists to help the Lions knock off Bonner-Prendie 3-1 in a Catholic League quarterfinal Tuesday, with game scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-11 and 25-16.
Borcky also chipped in 13 digs, while Kiki Daily (11 kills, 12 digs) and Breanna Hickey (two aces, 24 digs) added key performances to help O’Hara advance to the semifinal round. The Lions (17-6, 9-3) will play the winner of Little Flower and Archbishop Wood Thursday night.
Jackie McCarrick and Michaela Curran scrapped for 27 and 22 defensive digs, respectively, for the Pandas (10-7, 7-5), while Amber Ballinger led the team with nine kills.
Bishop Shanahan 3, Ridley 1: Samantha Schreiber led the 28th-seeded Raiders with 22 digs, three aces and four kills in a 3-1 loss to Bishop Shanahan in a District One Class AAA first-round game. The Eagles won in game scores of 25-16, 25-14, 21-25 and 25-14.
Melanie Malseed led Ridley (10-10) with eight kills, while Molly Murtha chipped in seven kills and posted two blocks. Amy Staiber racked up 22 digs and added six kills in a losing effort.
Notre Dame 3, Baldwin 0: Ali Rae dominated the floor with 12 serving aces as she helped the Irish top Baldwin with scores of 25-18, 25-8 and 25-14. Notre Dame (14-3, 7-0) clinched the Inter-Ac title outright with the win. Emma Butler and Marina Ruized combined for 12 assists.
