Malseed’s double-double gives Ridley a boost

Melanie Malseed was everywhere that Ridley needed her to be Monday.

Malseed posted a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs in leading Ridley to a 3-1 win over Springfield in Central League action.

Amy Staiber was close to a double-double as well, collecting eight kills and 15 digs as the Green Raiders rebounded from a first-set loss (25-23) to roll, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15.

Lindsay Glavin added 19 assists, and Molly Murtha contributed five kills and four blocks for the Green Raiders (6-7, 4-3).

Also in the Central League:

Garnet Valley 3, Marple Newtown 0: Elise Cummings shared the wealth with 32 assists in leading a romp by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-16.

Kiley Price (three blocks) and Sydney Portale blasted nine kills each, and Jenna Hostetler came up with 13 digs to lead the Jags (11-1, 7-0).

Strath Haven 3, Radnor 0: Brianna Fisher had a monster day by putting away 18 kills as the Panthers (14-2, 7-0) rolled by game scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-7.

Rachel Vresilovic was an attacking force with 10 kills, and Ellie Steif distributed 20 assists for the Panthers.

Penncrest 3, Upper Darby 0: Emily Hopkins (11 kills) and Diana Balta (nine) shared the attacking load as the Lions got by the Royals, 25-18, 25-12, 26-24.

Nikki and Gianna Gargiule played the providers with 11 and 10 assists, respectively, and Bridgette Devlin did the defensive dirty work with 17 digs for Penncrest (11-2, 6-1).

Erin Fagan dished 18 assists for Upper Darby (3-11, 1-6), while Evie Shanefield (eight kills, four blocks) and Shakenna Walls (five kills, four blocks) held their own at the net.

Haverford 3, Conestoga 0: Despite 11 blocks from Lauren Harris, Conestoga lost to Haverford by game scores of 25-20, 26-24 and 25-18.

In nonleague action:

Sacred Heart 3, MaST Charter 0: Kerri Corcoran posted a double-double with 16 kills and 12 aces as the Lions romped, 25-4, 25-17, 25-13.

Lauren Kilroy chipped in 25 assists, and Ally Schell came up with 21 digs for Sacred Heart (10-6).
