Armand, Small keep in step for Garnet Valley
Jack Armand and Hunter Small finished one second apart to lead Garnet Valley past Upper Darby (27-28) and Ridley (17-46) in Central League action at Bellevue State Park in Delaware Wednesday. Upper Darby also defeated Ridley, 17-46.
Armand took second in 18:11 and Small was third in 18:12 to pace the Jaguars. Kyle Berardi came in fifth for GV. Kevin Hong of Upper Darby was the overall winner in 18:08. John Heisky placed seventh to lead Ridley.
In other Central League meets:Haverford a double winner: Liam Boyes finished second overall and was of six Haverford runners in the top 10 as Fords downed Penncrest (17-44) and Springfield (24-37). Penncrest defeated Springfield, 25-36.
Alex Derbyshire placed four and Brian Melton fifth to give the Fords three runners in the top five. Liam Gallagher of Springfield was the overall winner in 17:11. Teammate Justin Miller was third. Soham Kamac finished sixth for Penncrest. Strath Haven earns split: Freshman Peter Armour turned in his best time of his young career (18:01) as Strath Haven fell to Lower Merion, 23-33, and defeated Marple Newtown, 15-50. The Aces also beat the Tigers, 15-50.
Greg Kotchick was Haven’s top finisher. He was third. Matt D’Aquila and Jonathan Perlman placed 1-2 for Lower Merion.
