Nasella, Johnston fuel rout by Ridley
Brooke Nasella fashioned a hat trick and Emily Johnston contributed two goals and a pair of assists to send the Ridley field hockey team to a 6-1 win at Springfield in the Central League Tuesday.
Roisin O’Sullivan, with an assist from Monica McCarthy, was the lone Cougar able to put a shot past Green Raider goalie Caitlyn Johnson.
Elsewhere in the Central League:
Garnet Valley 6, Marple Newtown 0: Alex Elisio accounted for two goals and two assists and Brittany Talley registered two goals and one helper to provide plenty of cushion for goalie Haley Valerio (four saves). The Tigers’ Megan Peterson was kept busy in the cage, turning aside 31 shots.
Radnor 4, Strath Haven 2: Katie Quinn posted two goals and an assist and Lydia Sydnor scored twice to fuel the Raider attack while Kylee Rutty turned in a dozen saves in holding off the Panthers’ second-half comeback, which featured goals by
Katie Capalbo and Holly Smith.
Penncrest 6, Upper Darby 3: Alissa Pastino recorded a hat trick, Annalise McLarnon netted a pair of goals to go with an assist and Allison D’Ignazio converted a penalty stroke to allow the Lions to double up the Royals.
In the Inter-Ac League:
Episcopal Academy 9, Penn Charter 0: Margaux Paolino’s two-goal, two-assist effort ignited the rout for the Churchmen, with Ali Rushton and Angela Rocca each scoring twice.
Agnes Irwin 13, Baldwin 1: Julianna Tornetta put on an offensive clinic with five goals and one assist while Sophia Tornetta contributed a hat trick and four assists in keying an early barrage. Jax Vander Veen (three goals) and Lucy Maguire (two goals, one assist) also a nine-goal first-half outburst by Agnes Irwin (6-1).
