Glenn keeps Garnet Valley win streak alive
After a slow start, things are looking up for the Garnet Valley girls soccer team.
Rachel Glenn had one goal and one assist in the span of a minute and goalkeeper Ashley Bufano posted her third straight shutout as the Jaguars downed Kennett, 3-0, to extend their winning streak to six games.
Glenn scored in the 16th minute and fed Britney Dragoni to give Garnet Valley (6-3) a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Ava Wenger closed out the scoring in the second half with the first goal of her career. Bufano stopped three shots her third clean sheet in four days.
In other nonleague action:
Sun Valley 1, Bonner-Prendergast 0: Jordan Johnson stole the ball from the keeper and put home the winner for the Vanguards (2-6) in the 78th minute. Devlin O’Connor, Ashley Hoy and Emily Simpson stood tall on defense in from of keeper Amy Parker (seven saves).
Miranda Corrigan made 11 saves for the Pandas.
Delco Christian 4, Shipley 3: Taylor Mingle scored three times including the winner with 7:20 left in the game to help the Knights erase a 3-2 deficit. Alex Thompson had the tying goal for the Knights (5-1-1).
Oxford 7, Chichester 0: Mackenzie Fredricks, Tara Klepacki and Megan Carroll had solid games for the Eagles (2-7-1).
In the Tri-State Christian Conference:
Christian Academy 4, Atlantic Christian 2: The Crusaders (4-3) just out to a 3-1 halftime lead and never looked back. Elena O’Bryan, Lindsay Haseltine, Grace Cryan and Abby Mannion tallied one goal each.
