Haseltine powers TCA rally
Down a goal at halftime, the Christian Academy was looking for someone to step up.
In spectacular fashion, Lindsay Haseltine obliged.
The heady freshman scored with 10 minutes left in the game, leading the Crusaders to a 2-1 nonleague win over Phil-Mont Christian Monday.
After trailing at halftime, Carli Sitkowski got TCA level off a feed from Elena O’Bryan. That set the stage for Haseltine, who found space in the box off a Sitkowski throw-in. Her initial shot from 12 yards out was denied by the Phil-Mont goalie, but Haseltine was the first to the rebound, chipping it over the sprawled out keeper, then heading the ball home past a covering defender.
The Crusaders (2-2) were kept in the game thanks to seven saves by Madison Dutton, including a spectacular punch of a high shot in the second half with the game tied at 1.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Unionville 4, Sun Valley 0: The visitors scored on penalty kicks on either side of halftime, while the Vanguards were unable to convert on their PK attempt in trying to stem the tide of momentum.
Amy Parker made 17 saves under constant duress for Sun Valley (1-5, 0-3).
