Council Rock North stuns Neshaminy
LANGHORNE – Sometimes, a good scouting report is worth its weight in gold.
Coming into their big game with Neshaminy, Council Rock North had a report that the Lady ‘Skins had been experiencing some communication breakdowns between the goalkeeper and the defense. As fate would have it, the Lady Indians used that knowledge in putting the only ball into the back of the net – by either team – by sophomore Kayla Robinson in the 51st minute of the game.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Robinson beat Neshaminy goalkeeper Vicki Smith to a free ball launched into that zone in-between the goalkeeper and the defense. The 10th-grader deked around the freshman keeper for the Skins and had nothing but the net staring her in the eye.
“We knew that if we played a ball right in between, there would be some communication problems with the goalkeeper,” said Indians head coach Wendell Beres.
“With a new goalkeeper especially a freshman, you are always second-guessing yourself.
“We wanted to make sure that any ball played in between that we were putting pressure on them in hopes that something like that would happen.
