Freshman Street scores three in win for Academy Park
Freshman Riley Street played like a veteran, pumping in a second-half hat trick to carry host Academy Park to its first win of the season — a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Conwell-Egan — in Thursday’s nonleague field hockey match.
Street tied the game with just under eight minutes remaining and put home the go-ahead goal with 2 minutes, 40 seconds left. Dakota Street, Riley’s older sister, set up two of the scores and Abby Williams added the other assist.
In the Del Val League:
Chichester 3, Interboro 1: Haley Fritz struck for a pair of goals in the first seven minutes — both off assists by Jona Mojadas — and Carli Lanza added an insurance score in the second half to make a winner of Nicole O’Donnell (eight saves).
Lexy Tansey set up Annette Helmandollar for the lone goal for the Bucs, who saw Haley Hicks and Steph McCool play excellent defense in front of Jess Hinchey (seven saves).
In the Catholic Academies League:
Villa Joseph Marie 4, Sacred Heart 2: Emily Franz scored off a pass from Alex Dwyer and Hannah Seifried also found the back of the cage in the second half, but even a dozen saves by Colleen Visser couldn’t help the Lions (1-2, 0-2) break through for their first league win.
