Gallen, Quintus help O’Hara rally for win
A three-goal deficit was no problem for the Cardinal O’Hara field hockey team Friday afternoon.
Makayla Gallen and Sara Quintus tallied two goals each as the Lions rallied for a 5-3 nonleague triumph over Agnes Irwin.
The Owls jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Lucy Maguire, Heather Crosby and Sophia Tornetta in the first 10 minutes. Howver, O’Hara’s defense stiffened behind Liz Tosto, who made two huge defensive saves, and Sara Rankin. Quintus scored off a penalty stroke with 18 minutes left to break a 3-3 deadlock. Sara Hayes put home a pass from Gallen with 4:30 remaining to provide some insurance or the Lions (3-0 overall, 1-0 Catholic League).
Rosie Kallis made 14 saves in goal for AIS.
