Delco Christian doubles teams come up big
Rachel Meel and Cela Clark combined to sweep third doubles and Grace Newman and Maya Neal pitched a shutout at fourth doubles, as the Delco Christian team extended its season-opening winning streak to three with a 6-1 thrashing of Calvary Christian in a Bicentennial League opener Thursday.
In the Catholic League:
Cardinal O’Hara 5, Little Flower 0: The Lions (1-2, 1-0) celebrated their first win of the season as Allison Salmon, Gabriella Levy and Caitlyn Savage combined to lose just one game in singles play.
In the Central League:
Garnet Valley 7, Penncrest 0: Catherine Cai and Lauren Bules pulled out a 6-2, 6-3 victory at third doubles to allow the Jaguars to shut out the Lions.
Strath Haven 7, Ridley 0: The Panthers’ tandem of Brooke Quinn and Natalie Goldfield outdueled Kelly Colflesh and Ria Polo, 6-3, 6-4, at first doubles in the match’s tightest contest.
Radnor 7, Upper Darby 0: Jess Lyn, Alice Lehr and Meg Reid dropped just four games in sweeping the singles competition for the Raiders.
