Corcoran, Michniak power Sacred Heart

Kerri Corcoran and Juliana Michniak were defensive stoppers, combining for 17 blocks, while Lauren Kilroy and Jessica McTaggart teamed up for 29 assists to help the host Sacred Heart volleyball team outlast Springside Chestnut Hill, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-7, in a nonleague thriller Thursday.

Ally Schell also contributed 17 digs in the see-saw match.

Cardinal O’Hara 3, Notre Dame 1: After a tough two-point loss in the opening set, the Lions (2-0) roared back to outlast the Irish behind Natalie Gray (18 digs, three aces), Gabby Napoleon (11 kills, three blocks), Maddie Noble (10 kills, two blocks) and Meghan MacWilliams (27 assists).

In the Ches-Mont League:

Sun Valley 3, Kennett 0: Emily Stokarski dished out 28 assists, Elizabeth Cocella came up with 19 digs and Madison McCunney served four aces and delivered 11 kills at the net for the Vanguards (2-1, 1-0).
