Marathon match ends in draw for Delco Christian, Notre Dame
Delco Christian and Notre Dame are two teams that played well enough to win Wednesday afternoon. Alas, it’s soccer, and there’s not always a winner.
The Knights and Irish battled a 1-1 draw that ended after two overtime sessions. Phoebe McClernon scored way back in the first half for Notre Dame, while Julia Kyne netted the equalizer 15 minutes in the second stanza.
Freshman Faith Warmhold and Ronnie Marie Falasco split time in goal for the Knights, recording eight saves apiece. Jess Freeman and Kailey Neff shared the assist on Kyne’s goal.
Paige Thompson, Claudia Norton and Brenna Richards all performed spectacularly in the backfield.
In other nonleague action:
Cardinal O’Hara 8, Upper Darby 0: Tamara Das scored four times and Jenn West potted two goals as the Lions rolled the Royals. Jess DiGiacomo and Libby McConnolugue combined for five assists.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Oxford 3, Sun Valley 0: Amy Parker (nine saves) performed admirably in net for the Vanguards (1-1, 0-1), who couldn’t convert one of their nine shots on goal.
