Nicolardi’s 3 goals help Marple-Newtown get a wild tie
Holly Nicolardi’s hat trick keyed a second-half comeback that lifted Marple Newtown into a 4-4 draw in a nonleague match at Avon Grove.
Nicolardi cashed in a pair of direct free kicks, including the tying goal. Bri Farrell added a goal, Sarah Meir chipped in an assist and Amanda Goodyear preserved the tie with five saves.
Interboro 6, Freire Charter 0: Haley Fisher fashioned a two-goal, two-assist performance in powering the Bucs. Madison Hengey, Danielle Iavaron, Megan Billbrough and Melanie Chubb rounded out the scoring.
Penncrest 4, Upper Merion 1: Tara Higgins tallied twice in the second half to put it away for the Lions, who also received goals from Corryn Gamber and Olivia Mancerella and seven saves by Kayla Allen.
Pennsbury 3, Garnet Valley 1: The Jaguars surrendered an own goal in falling behind by three before Rachel Glenn got them on the board with an assist from Kristen Garrity. Ashley Bufano kept it close with eight saves.
Harriton 3, Chichester 0: Eagles goalie Theresa Mignogna faced constant pressure in turning aside nine shots in the season-opening loss.
