Kutztown tops Antietam
The Kutztown Area High School boys’ basketball team split a pair of games last week and are 2-8 in the Berks League and 5-15 overall
On Jan. 31, the Cougars played host to Wyomissing in a Berks League game. The Spartans needed an overtime period to down Kutztown, 52-42.
Down by six after one quarter, the Cougars outscored the Spartans in the second quarter, 16-2, to take a 22-14 halftime lead. Wyomissing came back to tie the game after regulation, 41-41.
Tucker Landis led the Kutztown boys with 12 points in the game. Jordan Kemp netted 10 and Dalton Balthaser added nine.
On Feb. 4, the Cougars played host to Antietam. Despite a rough third period, the Cougars won the game, 42-40.
Kutztown held a 24-17 lead when Antietam came back to outscore the Cougars in the third period, 16-7, to make it exciting. Kutztown pulled it out in the end.
Dalton Balthaser led the Kutztown offense with 11 points in the game. Tucker Landis and Steve Eberly each had 10 points.
