Fleetwood wins two of three
The Fleetwood High School boys’ basketball team won two of three games last week. The Tigers are 6-4 in the league and 12-8 overall.
On Jan. 31, the Tigers traveled to Schuylkill Valley for a Berks League contest. The Tigers outscored the Panthers in all four quarters and won the game, 50-36.
Fleetwood held a slim 24-19 halftime lead. The Tigers increased the advantage to eight after three quarters, outscoring the Panthers, 9-6.
Brian Schumacher paced the Fleetwood offense with 21 points in the contest. Clay Weidemoyer netted eight points, while Matt Hook and Justin Hummel each chipped in with six.
On Feb. 1, the Tigers traveled to Exeter for a non-league battle. The game was close throughout, but the Eagles came out on top, 66-56.
Exeter held a 19-15 lead after one quarter, then expanded the lead to eight by halftime, 34-26. Fleetwood worked hard to come back, but they couldn’t make it all the way back.
Schumacher led the Fleetwood offense with 19 points in the game, while Hummel and Kyle Flannery each scored 13 points. Jared Reaser added six.
On Feb. 4, the Tigers were at home to battle Twin Valley in a non-league game. With the game tied at 24-24 at halftime, Fleetwood outscored the Raiders in the third quarter, 23-14, and the fourth, 20-15.
Schumacker paced the Fleetwood offense with 19 points in the game. Reaser netted 16 points and Flannery scored 10. Weidemoyer chipped in with seven points.
