Fleetwood loses two games
The Fleetwood High School boys’ basketball team fell to 4-4 in the Berks League and 10-7 overall after losing a pair of games last week.
The Tigers began the week with a league road game at Berks Catholic. The undefeated Saints showed why they are undefeated in league play when they defeated Fleetwood, 62-36.
The Saints took control of the game early, when they outscored the Tigers in the first quarter, 21-2. The Tigers stayed with the Saints the rest of the way, but could not cut into the lead.
Brian Schumacher paced the Fleetwood offense with nine points in the contest. Tyler Nolt and Jared Reaser each had eight points and Gabe Kotsch added four.
On Jan. 28, the Tigers played host to Conrad Weiser in another league battle. The Scouts had a good start and rode that to a 58-39 victory.
Conrad Weiser jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter. The Scouts increased the advantage to 13 by halftime, 29-16, then pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Fleetwood, 17-12.
Clay Weidemoyer led the Fleetwood offense with eight points in the game, while Kotsch scored seven. Justin Hummel and Schumacher each added six points.
