Fleetwood sweeps a trio of games
The Fleetwood High School boys’ basketball team improved to 3-2 in the Berks League and 7-5 overall after winning all three of its games last week.
The Tigers began the week with a home game against Schuylkill Valley. A good start helped Fleetwood to a 70-27 victory.
Fleetwood took control of the game early, leading 22-8 after one quarter, and 29-13 at halftime. They put the game away in the third period, outscoring the Panthers, 27-10.
Justin Hummel was the high scorer for Fleetwood with 13 points, while Clay Weidemoyer and Jared Reaser each scored 10. Gabe Kitsch chipped in with eight points and Tyler Nolt scored seven.
On Jan. 11, the Tigers traveled to Northern Lehigh for a non-league contest. This game was a lot closer, but Fleetwood came out on top once again, 64-60.
The Tigers jumped out to a 22-18 lead after one quarter, then expanded the lead to eight by halftime, 38-30.
Reaser paced the Fleetwood offense with 23 points in the contest. Brian Schumacher netted 12 points while Weidemoyer, Kyle Flannery and Matt Hook each scored nine points.
The Tigers got back into Berks League competition when they traveled to Twin Valley on Jan. 14. A strong first half lifted Fleetwood to a 60-47 victory.
Fleetwood held a 15-9 lead after one quarter, and upped the advantage to 13 by halftime, 30-17.
Hummel led the Fleetwood offense with 15 points in the game. Reaser and Schumacher each netted 11 points and Weidemoyer scored eight.
