Brandywine drops three of four games
The Brandywine Heights High School boys’ basketball team had a busy week, losing three of four games. The Bullets are 2-3 in the Berks League and 2-11 overall.
The Bullets began the week at home against Antietam in a Berks League game. The Mounts used a big first quarter to lift them to a 68-36 victory over Brandywine.
Antietam took control of the game early, taking a 25-7 lead into the second quarter. The Mounts put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bullets, 17-8.
Bryce Galczynski led the Brandywine offense with 13 points in the contest. Jake DeLong netted 10 points and Niko Jorge added five.
In a non-league game on Jan. 11, Brandywine Heights traveled to Northwestern Lehigh and was defeated, 51-48.
The Bullets led after three quarters, 38-36, but were outscored in the fourth quarter, 15-10.
DeLong had a big game offensively for Brandywine, as he netted 24 points. Sean Ziegler contributed with 12 points and Galczynski added seven.
On Jan. 13, Brandywine traveled to Hamburg in another non-league game. This one went down to the wire, but it was the Hawks that came out on top, 42-40.
Ziegler paced the Brandywine Heights offense with 14 points in the contest. Delong scored 12 points and Galczynski added six points. Zach Tiongson chipped in with five.
On Jan. 14, the Bullets got back into Berks League with a road game against division rival Oley Valley. A big fourth quarter helped the Bullets to a 47-36 win.
Oley Valley held a 31-30 lead after three quarters, but Brandywine pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lynx, 17-5.
DeLong was the high scorer for Brandywine, netting 14 points in the game. Ziegler scored 11 points and Ben Flicker helped the cause with 10.
