Perk Valley’s Wild fans 15 in 5-inning no-hit gem
Fifteen outs. Fifteen strikeouts.
To say Abby Wild’s day was efficient is grossly understated.
The senior pitcher dazzled in the circle for Perkiomen Valley, striking out 15 of the 16 batters she faced (one walk) in a no-hit performance that saw the Vikings defeat Methacton 10-0 in five innings.
“I was in the zone,” Wild said. “Me and (catcher) Brittany (Donigan) have been settling in as the season has gone on. The pitches that Coach Dan (McLaughlin) were calling were working really, really well.”
“I’m trying to get first pitch strikes, get up in count early and keep the ball moving around the zone. I was able to do that today.”
Wild’s efficiency in the circle was equaled by the productivity of her offense. Alex Vullings (two RBI), Jordan Sell (one run, one RBI), Sela Fusco (three runs) and Taylor Hamm (two RBI) all finished with two hits as the Vikings’ six-run fifth inning was enough to cause the Mercy Rule. Ashley Bangert, who finished 1-for-3 with three RBI, homered in the win.
