Mercury roundup (March 20): Smith scores game winner in OT for Upper Merion girls lacrosse in win over Upper Moreland

GIRLS LACROSSE

Upper Merion 11, Upper Moreland 10 (OT)

Olivia Smith scored four goals, including the game-winner for Upper Merion over Upper Moreland in overtime. Julianna Callison had a team-high six-goal outing with one assist for the Vikings and Ashley Evitts also found the back of the net.

Elisa Dougherty had two assists on the day, including Smith’s game-winner. Brooke Olsen, Sam Walmsley and Riley Robinson all had one assist. Annalise Messina scored seven goals for Upper Moreland, which trailed 8-6 at halftime.

Pope John Paul II 10, Quakertown 9

Ava Zepp, Cate Mink, Jill Cobaugh, Elena Colliluori all scored two goal each for the Golden Panthers. Maddie Memmo and Tess Riley added one goal apiece. Ava Zepp, Jill Cobaugh, Molly Bachman and Grace Mondillo each tallied an assist. Alexia Swartz had four saves and Maykayla Elison had six.

Wyomissing 10, Pottsgrove 2

Taylor Fiorini had two goals for the Falcons in a loss to Wyomissing. Lily Guerette came up with 11 saves for Pottsgrove.

Boyertown 3, Exeter 2

Ella Hurter went 3-for-4 at the plate with one run and one RBI in a win for Boyertown over Exeter. Aubrey Gilbert went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Kyra Neiswender and Rielynn Carey added an RBI apiece. Jaredice Flores and Cheyenne Boyles both had an RBI for the Eagles. Neiswender was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts, five hits allowed and one walk over six innings.

Pottsgrove 17, Daniel Boone 0

Avery Gleason went 2-for-2 at bat with two runs scored and five RBIs in a blowout of Daniel Boone in 2.5 innings. Mikayla Eckman earned the win in the circle, striking out eight with one hit allowed.
