Mercury Softball Roundup (May 11): Upper Perk wraps up Frontier title; Spring-Ford ends regular season undefeated

Highlights: The Indians (8-2) secured a first-place finish in the PAC’s Frontier Division with their victory over the Vikings (6-4).

Winning pitcher Maddy Dyer scattered six hits and walks in her complete-game stint. She also had one of UP’s two multiple-hit outings, joined by Dani Freer (home run).

Highlights: Jules Scogna worked a three-hit shutout while the Rams forced a mercy-rule win on the Wildcats in four innings. The victory capped a fourth consecutive undefeated PAC season for the Rams (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), who last dropped a league game in 2017.

Scogna had three strikeouts against no walks. Caitlin Ashby swung the big bat for Spring-Ford, going 3-for-3 while Scogna, Jessica Fliszar and Madison Peck drove in pairs of runs.

Pottsgrove 2, Pope John Paul II 1

Highlights: Mikayla Eckman won another pitchers’ duel for Potttsgrove, holding PJP to just one hit in the final six innings after allowing a first-inning run. Eckman and B Pysher had two hits in a quiet offensive day for both teams. Angelina Forte went the distance for PJP, allowing one earned run on seven hits.
