Haverford all Smiley after taking first place in Central

Tess Smiley erupted with four hits and six runs batted in and Emma Taylor pitched a complete game as Haverford defeated Conestoga, 7-5 to move into first place in the Central League.

Smiley hit a base-clearing triple in the fifth inning. while Taylor went the distance highlighted by her eight strikeouts. Rachel Yocum had two hits including a double for the Fords (13-1, 11-1), who dealt the Pioneers their second straight loss.

Also in the Central League:

Garnet Valley 7, Ridley 1 >> Kelly McLaughlin, Annie Bechtold and Lindsey Hunt all had two hits and two RBIs apiece and Becca Halford picked up the victory for the Jaguars, who broke out with four runs in the fourth. Morgan Mesaros added two hits in the win.

Radnor 11, Springfield 5 >> Sophia Royle was 2-for-4 with a double with a run scored and two RBIs and Lilah Demmy pitched a complete game with three earned runs and five strikeouts. Emma Gibbons and Emma Dalkin had two hits and a run scored each for the Raiders.

Jill Condi led the Cougars with a triple and double to go along with two RBIs and one run scored while Jenn Casasanto was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Strath Haven 12, Penncrest 2 >> Hazel Kane got the scoring started in the first with an RBI groundout then helped spur a four-in sixth inning with another RBI. Jamie Day, Gen Kozub and Kiera DeColli also added one RBI each in the fourth for the Panthers.

Harriton 12, Marple Newtown 4 >> Lindsay Walsh and Dayla Fuselli both had two hits for the Tigers, who couldn’t keep up with the Rams.

Upper Darby 10, Lower Merion 0 >> Sara Sullivan was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, Lexi Witmer had two hits including a double and Rebecca Sorrentino was in a rhythm on the mound with 11 strikeouts to pace the Royals.

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 6, John W. Hallahan 5 >> Jackie Niemec belted a two-run homer in the first, Mia Falcone had a two-run double and Sam Lachette only allowed five hits in five inning pitched for the Pandas (8-9, 5-6).

Cardinal O’Hara 3, Archbishop Ryan 2 >> Jenna Smith allowed no earned runs and struck out four in a complete game performance as the Lions stayed perfect in the Catholic League. Allison Ahern and Alyssa Daly had two hits apiece.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 15, Plumstead Christian 9 >> Erin Mulholland had three hits and five RBIs, Caitie Goneau added four hits and three RBIs and Abbi Heacock had nine strikeouts over seven innings for the Knights.
