Mercury Roundup (10.30): Methacton soccer teams cap seasons with wins over Upper Merion

Methacton 2, Upper Merion 0 >> The Warriors ended their season with a victory over the Vikings on Friday.

Julia McCann scored in the 25th minute off an assist by freshman Aubrey Beaugard, and Sarah Kenwood added the insurance tally in the 68th minute, assisted by senior Madia Mazzucola.

Goalkeeper Mairi Smith only needed to make two saves to earn her 4th shutout of the season. Upper Merion keeper Sarah Adams made 6 saves.

Methacton finished its season with a record of 6-4-3.

Boys soccer

Methacton 1, Upper Merion 0 >> Zach Stevenson had the game’s lone goal Friday, enough to lift the Warriors over the Vikings in a non-league matchup of PAC teams.

Stevenson was assisted by Braydon Ahlum on the second-half tally. Steve Remish and Charlie Bordonaro had a combined six saves in the shutout while Chris Kourtidis had two stops for UM.

Methacton, which held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, closed the season with a 4-8-1 record.

Girls volleyball

Upper Merion 3, Owen J. Roberts 0 >> The Vikings swept Thursday’s non-league match with the Wildcats, a pairing of Pioneer Athletic Conference member schools.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-21 and 25-16.

Statistical stars for Owen J. were Bridget Kowalski (one kill, one assist, 11 digs), Ellie Kalbach (three kills, 17 assists, six digs), Hannah Lewiski (one kill, one block assist, three digs), Jessica Taney (two aces, six kills, three blocks, nine digs), Abby Mattis (five kills, four digs), Meghan Touhey (two kills, five digs), Caroline Halsey (one ace, three kills, one assist), Madison Harvey (three kills, seven digs), Katie Arcara (one kill, three digs) and Caroline Stone (one assist).
