Mercury Roundup (May 7): Owen J. Roberts girls lacrosse finishes regular season undefeated

Highlights: Korrigan Sweeney and a stellar defense combined to shut the door on Garnet Valley, leading the Wildcats to a non-league victory Saturday. The Wildcats (18-0) stayed undefeated against the Jaguars (11-6), who are ranked No. 8 in the District 1-3A power rankings.

Sweeney had 11 saves and the defense limited Garnet’s outstanding offense to only 24 shots. Junior captain Gabbi Koury led the offense with five goals and one assist as Roberts finished its regular season, 18-0, the second consecutive year it has registered an undefeated regular season.

Highlights: MaryKate Sitko emerged as scoring leader for the Indians as they rolled over the Lions in Friday’s non-league game.

Sitko had five goals and one assist on the day. Her efforts enabled UP to build a 13-goal lead in the first half.
