Main Line lacrosse wrap-up: Agnes Irwin wins 3rd straight Inter-Ac title

Agnes Irwin and Laura Pansini made history Wednesday in a 17-4 victory over Baldwin.  The Owls (16-5, 11-1) claimed a school record third straight Inter-Ac title. Senior captain Laura Pansini recorded her 200th career goal and with nine points (six goals, three assists) set the Agnes Irwin record for career points, 328 (202 goals, 126 assists).

“This was an incredible day, a day we could only imagine when these seniors were freshmen on my first day at AIS,” said head Coach Jenny Duckenfield. “Kristin Burnetta, Emily Fryer, Kate White, Hannah Keating, Laura Pansini and Sarah Platt will leave a legacy in the record book, but more importantly, as leaders, they have built the foundation for our program in the future.”

Agnes Irwin will open the PAISAA Championships this weekend. The Owls are the defending champions and the No. 1 seed.

In other Main Line high school lacrosse action:

Haverford School defeated Penn Charter, 13-4, Wednesday in the second round of the InterAc Challenge. The Fords, who advanced to the semifinals, led 10-0 at halftime. Haverford scoring was by Johnny Nostrant (one goal, one assist), Forry Smith (one goal, two assists), Keyveat Postell (one assist), Dox Aitken (two goals, one assist), Tommy McNamara (two goals, one assist), Luke Desperito (one goal), Peter Garno (two goals), Alec Haas (one goal), Jack Marshall (one goal), Luke O’Grady (one goal), TJ Malone (one goal). Haverford goalies Alex deMarco (seven saves), Parker Henderer (four saves) and Sage Garito (two saves) combined for the win.

Malvern Prep defeated Episcopal Academy, 9-2, Wednesday to advance to the InterAc Challenge semifinals against Haverford School. The Friars were led by Billy Coyle (one goal, three assists), Kyle Anderson (two goals, two assists), Adam Goldner (four goals), Mike Fay (one goal), Zach White (two assists), AJ Traynor (one goal), Sam Charlton (one assist) and Andrew Clark (10 saves).

Episcopal Academy (girls) defeated Academy of Notre Dame, 12-6, Wednesday. The Churchwomen were led by Olivia Dirks (one ground ball), Lauren Brenner (one goal), Julia Hondros (two goals, five draw controls, one ground ball), Colby Gallagher (one goal, one draw control, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, one interception), Grace Norley (two goals. one draw control), Lindsay Walling (one draw control), Claudia Becker (two ground balls, one caused turnover), Ally Marino (one goal, one draw control, two ground balls), Katie Crager (three goals, one draw control), Olivia Cunningham (one goal), Izzy Rohr (four ground balls, four caused turnovers), Taylor Lucey (one goal, one assist) and Sydney Gagnon (six saves, two ground balls, one interception).
