Perkiomen School’s Falcone surpasses 100 goals this season

Steph Falcone really does keep it 100.

The Perkiomen School senior made a season-long dream come true Monday by surpassing the 100 goals in a season in the Panthers’ 23-7 victory over Kimberton Waldorf at home.

The high-scoring attack finished with nine goals on the day, her third goal placing her in triple digits for the season.

It was an ambitious total she believed she could reach from the start of the season after last year’s success.

“It was a huge goal that I set in the beginning of the season,” Falcone said. “I had 84 last year and hoped that I could reach 100 this season. My mom (Kris) said, ‘Steph, why don’t you just go for it?”

She’s gone for it all season, averaging better than seven goals per game.

Teammate Hannah Chiesa, who scored seven against Kimberton, wanted in on the big moment, too.

“My friend Hannah said, ‘I want to set it up for you,’ and she did it,” Falcone said. “She got me the ball and I took the shot and I’m thinking, ‘This had better go in.’ And thankfully it did!”

The game was paused to commemorate Falcone’s milestone as she received flowers and balloons before going back to work and scoring six more goals.

Falcone, who has committed to play lacrosse at Division I Wagner, can hit another major milestone this season as she is now 17 goals away from 300 for her career.

“Knock on wood, but hopefully it’s doable,” she said.

Perkiomen has three more regular season games before the Tri-County League playoffs, where Collegium Charter expects to be Perk’s top competition.

“We’re 1-and-1 against Collegium so far. They’ve always been a rival for us. I think we if we play together we can definitely pull off the win, but we have to be on our game.”

Future championship or not, there’s a positive atmosphere around the Perkiomen girls lacrosse program, headed by Louisy Thompson.

“This team is really different. We just go out and play. It’s not about the record, our coach just wants us to go out and play hard,” Falcone said. “When someone else is open we try to get them involved and scoring. We’re all so happy for each other when they score. All my teammates were so happy and so proud of me (after scoring her 100th goal), it’s a great feeling.”
