ROUNDUP: Liberio, Forrester boost Upper Darby in rout

Upper Darby was happy to have Gabby Liberio back in the starting lineup Friday.

The senior guard returned from a season-long injury to help the Royals defeat Sacred Heart Academy, 54-28, in the first round of the Robert Hopf Memorial Tournament at Jenkintown.

Jasmine Forrester poured in 22 points and was 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Liberio had a solid floor game with six points, seven rebounds and four assists. Aubrey Ennis added seven points for the Royals, who play the winner of Jenkintown and Bensalem in the final Saturday at 7:15.

Kayleigh Doyle paced the Lions with 10 points.

At the O’Hara Tournament:

Cardinal O’Hara 55, Episcopal Academy 26 >> Nicole Blanch netted a game-high 11 points for the Lions, who enjoyed a 25-8 advantage at intermission. Amaris Baker added 10 points.

Allie Sillo scored eight points for the Churchwomen.

Notre Dame 41, Springfield 29 >> Allie Lynch tallied 16 points and Maeve McErlane added seven for the Irish, who outscored the Cougars, 11-4, in the final period.

Alexa Abbonizio tallied a team-high 12 points for Springfield.

Archbishop Carroll 45, Neshaminy 28 >> Erin Sweeney tallied 16 points and Karli Dougherty added nine to power the Patriots (6-2) to another win. Sweeney and Dougherty combined for 15 rebounds.

Maggie Grant added six points and Grace O’Neill contributed four points, four assists and three steals.

At the Ridley Tournament:

Ridley 63, Sun Valley 23 >> Savannah Moss led a shared scoring effort for the Green Raiders, finishing with 11 points. Dakota McCaughan and Mackenzie Everett added 10 points apiece.

Rory Tiedeman led the Vanguards with 10 points.

At the Garnet Valley Varsity Club Tournament:

Garnet Valley 52, St. Thomas More 3 >> The Jaguars (6-1) dominated their visitors from Delaware. Jess Brewer (14 points) and Gianna Preising (12) led a balanced scoring attack.

Garnet Valley plays Great Valley in the championship Saturday at 5.

At the Holiday Classic in West Palm Beach, Fla.:

Bonner-Prendergast 53, Dr. Michael Kropp 39 >> Alexis Gleason paired 13 points and five rebounds and Emma Beaty finished with 12 points for the Pandas (3-3), who led 28-12 at halftime.

Alexis Eagan added six points in her first game back from injury and Bridie McCann pitched in with eight points. B-P is back in action against Reynoldsburg (Ohio) Saturday.

In nonleague play:

Penncrest 34, Chester Charter Scholars Academy 25 >> Bridget Dawson scored a game-high 14 points and Alexis Calloway tossed in 11 for the Lions.
