McAteer, Garnet Valley soar past Ridley

Emily McAteer poured in 16 points and Maddie Ireland added 12 points in Garnet Valley’s 50-32 win over Ridley in a Central League game Thursday. 

The Jaguars led at halftime, 24-12. Izzy Hamlin paced the Green Raiders (7-6, 4-5) with 10 points.

Springfield 37, Harriton 27 >> Maggie O’Connell scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter as the Cougars (10-3, 6-2) reached double digits in the win column. Sisters Madison and Jordan D’Ambrosio had a team-high nine points apiece. Jordan also snared five rebounds.

Radnor 54, Penncrest 33 >> The visiting Raiders scored 19 first-quarter points and shot 58 percent from the floor. Allison Lanzone scored 18 points and Kristin Hamill chipped in 17.

Strath Haven 56, Marple Newtown 49 >> The host Panthers survived a wild fourth quarter in which they were outscored, 29-18. Katie Fisher was 15-for-18 from the free throw line and finished with a game-high 24 points. Rachel Vresilovic added 17. Olivia Young powered the Tigers with 18 points and Halle Robinson chipped in 16.

Lower Merion 54, Upper Darby 43 >> Kaliesha Stevens had a season-high 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the Royals (0-7) fell. Emma Blewett contributed 17 points for UD.

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 68, Bishop McDevitt 26 >> Emily Monaghan came off the bench to score 11 points for the Pandas (11-2). Princess Clemons added 10.

Archbishop Carroll 52, St. Hubert 36 >> Bella Sorrentino (12 points) and Molly Masciantonio (11) led the Patriots.

In the Del Val League:

Penn Wood 60, Interboro 36 >> Carle Andrews continues her stretch of excellent play. The sophomore scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to go with three steals and three assists.

All-Delco Dahnye Redd notched a double-double with 14 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots for the Patriots (8-5, 3-0). Marta Walewski scored a career-high 15 points for the Bucs (6-8).

In nonleague action:

Ursuline Academy 35, Cardinal O’Hara 34 >> Ursuline’s Alisha Lewis hit a pair of free throws with six seconds to play as the Lions (12-1) suffered their first defeat of the season.

All-Delcos Hannah Nihill (12 points) and Mary Sheehan (10) led the way for O’Hara.

Sacred Heart 27, Chichester 22 >> Sacred Heart grinded out its fourth win of the season despite missing three starters and two key reserve players. Eileen Piombino shouldered the scoring duties with a game-high 13 points.

The host Lions responded after being shut out in the first period by blanking the Eagles in the second quarter, 11-0.

Maura Murray led Chi with seven points.

In the Bicentennial League:

Delco Christian 60, Plumstead Christian 16 >> The Knights (8-5, 4-5) jumped out to a fast start, leading 28-4 at halftime. Siani McNeil registered 20 points and six blocks, while Shirley Piotrowski added 12 points and eight blocks.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Kennett 61, Sun Valley 31 >> Kate Lannon recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, but the Vanguards (6-9) had a difficult time slowing the Blue Demons’ hot shooting.
