All-Delco Girls Basketball: Wilsons helped Archbishop Carroll take playoff foes by storm

In addition to Daily Times Player of the Year Caroline Dotsey of Haverford, the All-Delco team includes:

Brooke Wilson, Archbishop Carroll: The do-everything junior guard was spectacular during the Patriots’ amazing run to the PIAA Class 6A championship, this during a 17-13 season. A two-time All-Catholic League selection, Wilson led the Patriots in rebounds (7.8 per game), assists (3.6) and steals (1.8). She was second on the team in scoring at 11.7 points. In the 43-37 win over Cedar Cliff for the Class 6A title, she scored all 12 of her points in the second half. Wilson made key foul shots in the fourth quarter and dished out a game-high five assists to go with seven rebounds and one steal. In March, she announced her verbal commitment to Army.

Taylor Wilson, Archbishop Carroll: The senior forward is a two-time All-Delco and All-Catholic League selection. Wilson flourished under the bright lights of the PIAA postseason. She hit two free throws with five seconds left in the semifinal round against Cardinal O’Hara to send the Patriots to the championship game. It was in Hershey where Wilson showed what made her one of the top players in the state for two straight seasons. She made two 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the third quarter to help lead the Patriots to their third PIAA title. Wilson was the top scorer on Carroll with 15.8 points per game, second in assists (33) and third in steals (34). She will continue her playing career at Army.

Joanie Quinn, Cardinal O’Hara: The junior had a breakout season for the Lions. The combo guard was a floor general in her first season in the starting lineup. Quinn’s excellence at the position was a big reason why the relatively youthful and inexperienced Lions advanced to the PIAA Class 6A semifinals after the program captured back-to-back titles in the Class 5A division. Quinn made two free throws late in regulation to propel the Lions to a 42-39 win over Spring-Ford in the second round of the state tournament, finishing with a game-high 15 points. In the Lions’ 61-49 win over Central York in the quarterfinals, Quinn poured in 17 points, including 12 in one quarter. Quinn averaged 11.8 points per game en route to earning All-Catholic League recognition.

Molly Rullo, Cardinal O’Hara: The sophomore guard proved all season why she is considered one of the top underclassmen in the state. Both a two-time All-Delco and All-Catholic League honoree, Rullo emerged as a leader on and off the floor for a young Lions team that fell one win shy of advancing to a PIAA final for the third straight year. The superb Rullo was third in Delco in scoring with a 16.7 scoring average. Rullo is a rare talent that excels at everything on the floor. She poured in a career-high 31 points in O’Hara’s victory over Central York in the PIAA Class 6A quarterfinals. Rullo’s sister, Megan, was a key contributor for the Lions. Her father, Jim, is the head coach of the Neumann University men’s basketball team.

Haylie Adamski, Garnet Valley: The sophomore had another outstanding campaign for the Jaguars. One year after leading the team to a Central League title, Adamski was the focal point of the Jaguars’ attack and one of the best offensive players in the county. The combo guard had one of her most memorable performances in a win-or-go-home situation, scoring 25 points in the Jaguars’ win over North Penn to clinch a PIAA Class 6A tournament berth. Adamski, who was named to the All-Central League team a second straight season, averaged 15.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 assists.
